C806 Crossrail Wallasea Island and C807 Docklands Transfer Site
RSPB Wallasea Island is a magical landscape of marshland, lagoons, ditches and sea. Walk along the seawalls to see the saltmarsh, mudflats and lagoons, where terns dive into the water in summer and huge flocks of waders and wildfowl arrive in winter. Working in Partnership with BAM Nuttall, IES successfully provided; a completely integrated electrical package for the control of the Pontoon barge offloading plant (see picture above); The extensive conveyor systems at Wallasea Island, Essex; and Docklands Transfer Site; for handling of the excavated material arising from Crossrail shafts and stations. The EICA scope included a full discrimination study, electrical design, switchgear, automated control system, complex generator set and site electrical installation. (Contract value ~£2M).
